We are now OPEN to submissions for our third issue!
As usual, we will be accepting poetry, flash fiction, short fiction, nonfiction, visual art, and photography with Christian themes.
Our reading period is from February 1st – March 31st.

Submission Guidelines:
We prefer literary work, but we accept all genres of poetry, flash fiction, short stories, nonfiction, and visual art & photography from both Christians and non-Christians as long as it includes a Christian theme.
We like hopeful. We also like bleak. We like desperation and grit. But only if there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We want to see that golden pinprick of light guiding us out of the darkness.
Short Stories (Fiction and Nonfiction) – 1 piece at a time (4,000 words max)
Flash Fiction – up to 3 pieces at a time (700 words per piece, max). Please submit all pieces in one document.
Poetry – up to 3 poems at a time (no length limits). Please submit all poems in one document.
Art & Photography – up to 3 pieces at a time. Please send as JPEG/JPG.
We accept simultaneous submissions as long as you let us know immediately if you are accepted elsewhere. Please do not send previously published work.
On acceptance, Heart of Flesh asks for first North American electronic rights to publish online and in a downloadable PDF, as well as the right to archive your work indefinitely. Following publication, rights revert back to the writer/artist. We only ask that you credit Heart of Flesh as the place your work first appeared. – All this means is that we want the right to be the first to publish your work. After we publish it, the writing/art is yours to do with as you wish!
We do not offer payment at this time.
