Jacob’s Ladder

Artist Description of ‘Jacob’s Ladder’

Just as Jacob had a dream while fleeing from his brother, Esau, my homeless man is having a dream while fleeing his own personal demons. Angels going up and down the ladder, connecting Heaven and Earth, reveal God’s presence and promise: that nothing can separate us from His love.

This picture is painted in acrylics over a ‘poured’ background, using semi-gloss house paint to create the effect of clouds.

As a retired schoolteacher, Kim Furst has been indulging her dual passions of writing and painting. Living in a holiday resort on the south coast of NSW offers plenty of scope for inspiration. Kim and her husband enjoy bike riding and swimming. The Christian City Church she attends is only a short walk away.
